A 3D designer may have a different specialization:
- 3D visualization – the creation of three-dimensional drawings based on ready-made sketches. The service is in demand in construction, architecture, film, game industry, interior design.
- 3D modeling – creation of three-dimensional models with high level of detail for web design, design of clothes, shoes and accessories, sculpture, architectural objects, as well as for projects in the educational, game and entertainment industries.
- 3D animation – creating animated three-dimensional characters for advertising, games, information and educational projects, cartoons and movies.
- 3D-visualizer can work on different types of projects or focus on one thing, such as designing virtual layouts of buildings, drawing jewelry for online stores, creating characters for commercials.
3D-design is a field where a specialist’s knowledge and skills are valued much more than a diploma. Employers and customers choose artists for their projects by portfolio and test assignments. Therefore, you can learn on your own – from books, articles, and video tutorials. But self-study has several significant disadvantages:
There is no clear program, so there is a great risk of missing something;
there are a lot of questions that no one to ask;
learning takes a lot of time;
You need to constantly look for self-motivation, because there is no clear timetable, no knowledge control.
And although the diploma is not the main factor for a successful career as a 3D-designer, the document on education is still a pole and a competitive advantage.
Specialists of this profile are in demand in interior and landscape design studios, web-studios, digital-agencies, advertising agencies. They are hired by film studios, TV channels and game design studios. You can get a job in a manufacturing company – to make 3D models of products for printed publications and the site, in a construction company or architectural firm – to develop virtual models of buildings and areas.
Many 3D designers work as freelancers. They can search for orders through the site or social networks, on specialized sites, on freelance exchanges, on sites with advertisements and in other ways.
